Sports Injury? Acupuncture and Massage can help you.

Simeon Pollock here with the Wholistic Health Minute.

Working out is a great way to improve your health and well being, but it’s essential that you do so safely. With the advent of exercise machines and gyms that specialize in half hour workouts, I have begun to see more and more patients with soft tissue injuries sustained while working out.

Healing soft tissue damage is where acupuncture and massage therapy have so much to offer. Many patients are surprised at how quickly these types of injuries respond to acupuncture and massage.

One common injury I’ve seen affects the soft tissue surrounding the hip and may extend into the lower back or leg. As a result, patients arrive complaining of not being able to sit “Indian style” –or cross-legged.

While acupuncture and massage can certainly provide relief for this injury, this is a case where an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Before you begin your exercise routine, be sure to include a warm up routine. Warming up is a serious part of any work out. In order to make a muscle supple enough to work out it must be warm. After exercising, you should be sure to adequately stretch and cool down as well.

If you find you’ve over done it, there’s no quicker way to recovery than a therapeutic massage and possibly acupuncture. Visit my web site at www dot wholisticfamily dot com... That’s wholistic with a “w”…. where we treat the patient as a whole.
